William Larue Weller 2020 is the wheated bourbon of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, made at Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, Kentucky. It was bottled at barrel proof, uncut and unfiltered, straight from the cask, in a 750ml bottle.
Wheat replaces rye in the mashbill, so fruit and vanilla lead the character rather than spice.
The nose shows caramel, vanilla, honey and dark fruit. The palate is smooth and full, with toffee, dark chocolate, dried cherry and baking spice, and the finish is long and warming, with caramel, vanilla and oak.
