A wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace, released in 2023 as the annual BTAC bottling. It is between 10 and 14 years old and bottled uncut and unfiltered at cask strength, 66.8% ABV (133.6 proof).
The wheat-substituted recipe was introduced by William Larue Weller in 1849, and Buffalo Trace uses the same mashbill for its Van Winkle bourbons. The colour is a very deep amber.
The nose is rich with caramel and vanilla and the sweetness of the wheat. The palate is full and powerful, with caramel and warm spice, and the finish is very long and evolving.
