Woodford Reserve – Straight Rye Kentucky Whiskey Batch 118 (70cl, 45.2%)

This is Woodford Reserve Straight Rye, a Kentucky straight rye whiskey in a 70cl bottle at 45.2%. The mash is 53 per cent rye, and the batch and bottle number are marked on each bottle. This one is Batch 118. It was triple distilled in copper pot stills and matured for six to eight years in new, charred American white oak barrels. The nose is spicy and peppery, with cedar, cinnamon and marzipan, a slight nuttiness, and apple and pear. The palate shows grain notes of millet, rye and malt, with a syrupy body, mint, clove, honey and apple. The finish is sweet, spicy and lasting.
