Yamazaki 12 Year Old Watami Founder's Choice is a single malt from the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery in Osaka, bottled at 43% in a 66cl bottle. It was made with the Watami Group, the Japanese izakaya chain, and released in September 2007 for its venues.
The malt is aged for at least 12 years, with sherry cask whisky at its core.
The nose is led by raisin, with a bright lime accent, light peat and a wafer-like toasted note. On the palate, juicy raisin and lime-like acidity give way to a gentle cacao bitterness, in a smooth, rounded mouthfeel.
