Yamazaki – Distillery Exclusive Spanish Oak Peated Malt (18cl, 48%)

This is a single malt released in 2024 as a limited edition from the Yamazaki Distillery. It departs from the distillery's usual style by using peated malt, where Yamazaki normally works with unpeated malt. The whisky was matured in Spanish oak casks that previously held Spanish sherry. It is bottled at 48%, higher than the regular Yamazaki bottlings, in a 180ml bottle. The nose opens with gentle smoke, bitter orange marmalade and dark chocolate, then toasted almonds and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate the smoke is deeper, smooth and refined, joined by roasted cacao.
