Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak – Kogei Collection Japanese Kimono Edition (70cl, 43%)

This is a Yamazaki single malt made from peated malt and matured in Spanish oak casks, bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is part of The Kogei Collection Japanese Kimono Edition, created under Suntory's Chief Blender Shinji Fukuyo. The bottle is dyed in the bokashi gradation technique by Chiso, a Kyoto Yuzen kimono maker founded in 1555. The gold patterns represent drifting clouds above the three rivers around the distillery. The Spanish oak is described as bringing dark mocha, raisins and almonds, along with a reddish hue. The texture is smooth and creamy, with a pronounced smokiness, roasted cocoa and bittersweet caramel with baking spice.
