Akashi Blended Sherry Cask Finish (50cl, 40%)

This Japanese blended whisky from the White Oak Distillery is bottled at 40% ABV in a 50cl bottle. Malted barley makes up 30% of the recipe. After maturing in American oak casks, the whisky was given a short second period in ex-sherry casks. The distillery stands in the town of Akashi, west of Kobe and close to the sea. It was founded by Eigashima Shuzo, which has made sake and shochu since 1888 and received its licence to make whisky in 1919. Whisky making itself began in 1984, when the company moved to its present site. Oak and vanilla stand out on the nose, with a soft, balanced finish.
