White Oak Akashi Single Malt is the standard bottling from the White Oak distillery, which stands in Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, west of Kobe and facing the Seto Inland Sea. The distillery belongs to Eigashima Shuzo. The company began as a sake producer in 1888 and obtained a licence to make whisky in 1919, four years before Yamazaki was built. White Oak itself dates from 1984, when the company moved to its current premises.
