Amrut – Naarangi Indian Single Malt (70cl)

Amrut Naarangi is an Indian single malt in a 70cl bottle. The name is Hindi for orange, and the whisky is built around that idea. It was aged in an ex-oloroso sherry cask that had been seasoned with wine and orange peel for three years. A three-year-old whisky was then finished in that cask for a further three years, which adds extra orange character. The nose combines orange peel with rich sherry, chocolate, mint, cinnamon, nutmeg and lightly toasted oak. On the palate it has good weight and a coating, chocolatey feel, with orange cake, ginger and black pepper. The finish is very long and oily, with cinnamon.
