Angel's Envy Cellar Collection Volume 5 is a Kentucky straight rye, the fifth release in the distillery's Cellar Collection. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the whisky was aged for 6.5 to 7 years in new charred American oak.
It is then finished for up to 12 months in French oak barrels that once held Patrón Añejo tequila, a first for the series. It is bottled at 52.1% ABV.
The nose has warm baking spice, layered oak and a little agave. The palate adds rye spice, oak and agave, with sweetness and spice playing against each other. The finish is long, with lingering spice and oak.
