Ardbeg 10 Year Old is the core single malt from the Ardbeg Distillery on the south coast of Islay, founded in 1815. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill filtered.
The malt is heavily peated, at around 50 parts per million phenol, and the whisky matures predominantly in ex-Bourbon barrels.
The nose brings sea-salt smoke, damp driftwood, lemon zest and a touch of iodine. The palate is oily, with bonfire ash, black pepper, roasted coffee and lemon curd. The finish is long and warming, ending in dry, lingering ash.
