This is the 2021 edition of Ardbeg 25 Year Old, a limited Islay single malt. It was bottled at 46% ABV, without added colour and without chill-filtration.
After 25 years in cask, the smoky character of Ardbeg is still firmly in place. The nose brings smoked cream and distant campfire, woven with pine resin and scented candle wax.
On the palate a sharp pepper note gives way to the sweetness of creamy lemon sorbet, with a trace of carbolic soap and tar. The finish is long, with aniseed, cream and buttery toffee.
