Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a 5 year old Islay single malt, added to the Ardbeg core range in 2020. It is bottled at 47.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The aim was a rough, heavily peated dram, matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose combines fresh herbs, vanilla, pear, freshly ground black pepper, glazed ham, strong Turkish coffee and resinous pine. The palate is powerful, with chocolate, tar, smoked bacon, antiseptic lozenges, eucalyptus and aniseed. The finish is long, salty and mouth-coating, with cocoa, butterscotch and savoury meat.
