Ardbeg Alligator is a limited edition Islay single malt, bottled in 2011 at 51.2% ABV. It has not been coloured or chill-filtered.
The name comes from the casks. Ardbeg charred new American white oak casks heavily, for four minutes each, which left a thick layer of charcoal inside. The cracked pieces of charcoal look like alligator skin.
