Ardbeg An Oa is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 46.6% ABV. Whiskies from several cask types, including Pedro Ximenez, virgin charred oak and ex-bourbon, were brought together in a purpose-built oak Gathering Vat, where they combined before bottling.
The result is smoky power softened by a smooth sweetness. The texture is creamy, leading to syrupy sweetness with milk chocolate, treacle toffee, aniseed, orange and smoky tea leaves, then gentle nutmeg and cinnamon, cigar smoke and a little grilled artichoke. The finish is long and sweet, with floral notes, mint toffee and malty biscuit.
