Ardbeg An Oa is an Islay single malt in the distillery's Ultimate range, bottled at 46.6% in a 70cl bottle.
Its rounded character comes from time in a purpose-built oak Gathering Vat, where whiskies from several cask types, including sweet Pedro Ximenez, spicy virgin charred oak and intense ex-bourbon casks, are brought together.
The nose is smoky, like burning applewood, with creamy toffee, aniseed, treacle and dates, and with water lime, pine resin, fennel and tar appear. The palate is creamy and syrupy-sweet, with milk chocolate, treacle toffee, aniseed, orange, smoky tea leaves, nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish is long and sweet, with mint toffee and malty biscuit.
