This is a single malt from Ardbeg on Islay, released in 2020 as a limited edition to mark the 20th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee.
It is finished in red wine casks from New Zealand that previously held Pinot Noir, a first for the distillery. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose combines maritime notes with fruit pudding and cedarwood, with oak tannins and a hint of truffle. On the palate, Islay smoke meets sweet fruit, recalling smoked jam tarts. The finish is long, with a little smoke and sweet spice.
