Ardbeg Blasda is a limited edition single malt from the Islay distillery, bottled at 40%. It was released around 2008 and 2009 as part of an experimental project led by Dr Bill Lumsden. The name is Gaelic and means sweet or tasty.
The malt is lightly peated, at just 8 ppm. The whisky is non-chill-filtered, with no colouring added, and it has a pale, straw colour. It is presented in a clear bottle.
The nose is fresh, with citrus, green apple and pear, light smoke, sea air, vanilla and white pepper. The palate brings mint, white chocolate, light salty notes and a little malty sweetness. The finish is medium in length, with gentle smoke, citrus, sea salt and pepper.
