Ardbeg – Corryvreckan Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 57.1%)

Ardbeg Corryvreckan is a cask strength Islay single malt, bottled at 57.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is a dull gold colour with a pale straw hue. The nose is unusual for Ardbeg: rich chocolate, vanilla, lemon butter and spice above a smoky, salty layer, ending on terracotta, clay and wet charcoal. With time in the glass, fresh smoke emerges without dominating. The palate opens rich and creamy and fairly heavily peated, with chocolate and lemon butter, before firm oak and spice turn it dry. The finish is warm, tingly and spicy, with lemon, dry cocoa and gentle smoke lingering.
