Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt without an age statement, bottled at 57.1% ABV and non-chill-filtered. It combines whisky from ex-bourbon casks of American oak with a share matured in new French oak. The name comes from the Corryvreckan whirlpool between Jura and Scarba.
The nose brings dark chocolate, blackcurrant, smoke, pine needles and muscovado sugar. On the palate are pepper, espresso, dark fruit, almonds, strong peat smoke and spicy oak. The finish is very long and intense, with tar, coffee, dark chocolate, cherry and pepper.
