Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt named after the famous whirlpool off the north of the island. It is very smoky and peaty, and is bottled at 57.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky first matures in new French oak in the Ardbeg warehouses, then is refined in ex-bourbon casks.
On the nose it is peaty and smoky, with tar oil, dark chocolate, blackcurrants and earthy pine needles. The palate is peppery, with seaweed, espresso, bitter almond and star anise. The finish is long and deep, with tarry coffee and chocolate-covered cherries.
