Ardbeg Platinum XOP is a 25 year old single cask Islay single malt, distilled in 1992 and matured in a single refill hogshead. It was selected by Fred (Jnr) and his daughter Cara Laing from the family vaults, and is bottled at natural cask strength without colouring or chill-filtration.
Each bottle was filled by hand, individually numbered and signed to celebrate the Platinum Anniversary year. Only 251 bottles were released worldwide.
The nose is bonfire smoke with cured bacon and damp soil. The palate has smoked meats with coal, cracked pepper and a sweet, leathery quality, and the finish carries seaweed, a touch of lemon rind and vanilla.
