Ardbeg Scorch is an Islay single malt that the distillery bottled as a limited edition for Ardbeg Day 2021. The packaging and flavour are a playful nod to a dragon of Islay legend. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks that were heavily charred, and it is a bright, brushed gold in the glass.
The nose offers smoke and soot with hints of aniseed and patchouli, and a drop of water brings out sage, briarwood and pine. The palate is charred oak with black liquorice running through medicinal lozenge notes. The finish is long.
