Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition is an Islay single malt that brings together whisky from Manzanilla sherry casks and from Ardbeg's usual American oak casks. It is bottled at 46% in a one-litre bottle, with natural colour and without chill-filtration.
The nose is sharp and deep: tar, saddle soap, pine resin and Brazil nuts, with herbal notes and a hint of damp peat bog. With water, chocolate notes appear alongside a touch of motor oil. The palate is slightly dry, with tar, soot, dark chocolate and a pronounced nuttiness. The finish is long, with fennel, pine, carbolic soap, aniseed and leather.
