Ardbeg – Smokiverse (48.3%)

Smokiverse is a limited edition Ardbeg single malt bottled at 48.3% and released for Ardbeg Day. Ardbeg has stood on the south coast of Islay since 1815. This bottling is a high gravity mash experiment: less water and more grain went into the mash, giving a very sugar-rich wort. The usual Ardbeg peat smoke remains, with a fruitier side. The nose is intense and highly aromatic, with tropical fruit, chewing gum, sourdough bread and peat smoke. The palate is creamy, with creosote, aniseed and clove balanced by sweet muscovado sugar and woody notes.
