Ardbeg Traigh Bhan is a 19-year-old Islay single malt, bottled at 46.2% in a 70cl bottle. This is Batch 6, and each batch of the series is allowed to differ slightly from the last.
The whisky matured for at least 19 years in ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Its name comes from the 'singing beach' on the south coast of Islay, where the sand seems to sing underfoot.
The nose offers olive oil, tar, soot smoke, ginger chocolate and fresh-cut grass. The palate is oily and minty-sweet, with toasted bread, tar oil and a hint of smoked pineapple. The finish is long and smoky, with sweet citrus, pepper, coffee grounds and liquorice.
