Ardbeg Traigh Bhan is a 19 year old Islay single malt, here in its fourth batch, bottled at 46.2%.
The nose opens with charcoal, tar and toffee, followed by fennel, celery and green pepper, then milk chocolate, aniseed and wood smoke. A little water brings out fennel, coriander and lavender, with a brief touch of salty sea spray.
On the palate, pronounced pepper gives way to soft toffee, aniseed, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus and menthol, with charcoal, smoked bacon and burnt toast over the top.
