Ardbeg – Uigeadail (70cl, 55%)

Ardbeg Uigeadail is a peated Islay single malt from the Ardbeg Distillery, bottled at 55% ABV without chill filtering. It takes its name from the loch that supplies the distillery's water, a Gaelic name meaning dark and mysterious place. The whisky carries no age statement. It marries intensely peated Ardbeg spirit matured in ex-bourbon barrels with spirit from much older Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, setting smoke against raisined sweetness. The nose brings warm smoke, Christmas pudding and dried currants, with sea salt and ground espresso beneath. The palate is thick and oily, with sweet peat, molasses and dark chocolate, and the finish is long and warming.
