Ardbeg – Uigeadail (70cl, 54.2%)

Uigeadail is an Islay single malt from Ardbeg, bottled at 54.2% in a 70cl bottle. It was the first higher-strength whisky the distillery released after it reopened. The whisky matures in a mix of 90% ex-bourbon casks and 10% sherry casks. Ardbeg's peaty water is said to have shaped the earthy, tarry character of its whisky. The old malting floors also played a part: they had no fans, so peat smoke settled heavily on the barley, a quality that can still be tasted in very old bottlings.
