Ardbeg – Uigeadail (70cl, 54.2%)

Ardbeg Uigeadail is an Islay single malt that combines whisky matured in bourbon casks with older whisky from sherry casks. It was first released in 2003 and takes its name from Loch Uigeadail, the distillery's water source. It is bottled at cask strength, 54.2%, in a 70cl bottle. Tasting notes describe peat, dark sugar, freshly ground espresso, grain and a little tar on the nose. The palate starts with ripe fruit and forest honey, then malt, before strong peat smoke and toasted barley take over. The finish is very long, with caramel and malt running through the smoke and a faint espresso note at the end.
