A single cask Ardbeg from Islay, distilled on 28 March 1975 and bottled on 8 November 2006 at 54.2% ABV after more than 31 years in a sherry butt. It was released in the Committee X-mas Bottle series, and cask 1375 yielded 522 bottles.
The nose layers peat smoke and old oak with dried fruit, dark caramel and spicy sherry notes, with light maritime and earthy touches. The palate is full and concentrated, with Ardbeg smoke, earthy peat and a salty edge, plus dried fruit, dark chocolate, dark sugar and spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering peat smoke, dried fruit, spicy oak and a little saltiness.
