Balvenie 21 Year Old PortWood is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle. It is matured for 21 years in second-fill bourbon and sherry casks, then finished for 12 months in old port casks that held tawny port.
The finishing was devised by David Stewart, the distillery's Malt Master, who chooses the port casks himself. The port adds to the complexity of the whisky while keeping its original character, and it shapes the colour, the nose and the palate.
