Balvenie – 27 Years Old A Rare Discovery from Distant Shores (70cl, 48%)

A 27 year old Balvenie single malt from the A Rare Discovery from Distant Shores series, bottled at 48%. It spent its last seven years in ex-Caroni rum casks. The series grew from a meeting in 2009 between David Stewart of Balvenie and John Barrett of Bristol Spirits, who had been sourcing Caroni rums from Trinidad since 2003. The whisky honours their friendship and the Trinidadian Caroni distillery, now closed. It combines muscovado sugar, syrupy toffee and the honeyed fruit typical of Balvenie malts.
