Basil Hayden Red Wine Cask Finish is a Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Master Distiller Freddie Noe combined the brand's rye-forward bourbon with a portion that spent time in California red wine casks. It is a limited edition.
The approach keeps the approachable character of classic Basil Hayden and adds dried fruit, red fruit and recognisable red wine notes.
On the nose, dried fruit and cherry meet vanilla and a hint of toasted oak. The palate brings sweet cherries and a nectar-like sweetness alongside vanilla and charred oak. The finish is warm and fresh, with a soft mouthfeel.
