Blue Run Emerald Rye is a barrel-proof Kentucky rye whiskey, bottled at 58.35% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled at Castle & Key in Frankfort under master distiller Jim Rutledge, and blends whiskey from 189 barrels of three high-rye recipes.
All the barrels were new, charred American oak, and the whiskey was aged at two sites more than fifty miles apart, in Bardstown and Frankfort.
Vanilla, fresh-cut grass, red apple skin and a pepper-lime accent mark the nose. Buttercream, baked apple and pear, toasted oak, burnt orange and clove spice follow on the palate. The finish is long, with leather, seasoned oak and brown butter.
