Octomore 16.2 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, aged for five years and bottled at 58.1% in a 700ml bottle. The malt is peated to 101.4 PPM and distilled from Scottish Mainland Concerto barley. It is the first Octomore to combine four cask types. The whisky matured in Oloroso sherry butts and Bordeaux red wine casks, then received a finish in Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel casks. The nose is sweet peat smoke with honeyed florals, orange blossom, candied peel, dried figs and prunes. The palate is sweet and oily, with caramelised sugar, smoked cherries, red berries, molasses and apple syrup. The finish is long, with wood spice, dark chocolate, salt air and a raisin-like sweetness.
