Port Charlotte 18 Year Old is a heavily peated Islay single malt, bottled at a cask strength of 54.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered.
The barley is peated to 40 PPM, and the whisky spent eighteen years in refill sherry casks (74%) and refill French oak wine casks (26%). Distilling, maturing and bottling all take place on Islay, at Bruichladdich.
On the nose, tasting notes describe peach, white nectarine, honey and hazelnut over peat smoke. The palate is dense and oily, with butterscotch, dried apricot and dark chocolate. The finish is long, with peat smoke, charred oak and a salty minerality.
