Bushmills 14 Years (70cl, 40%)

This is a 14-year-old Irish single malt from the Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim, triple distilled and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The main maturation, of around 14 years, takes place in first and second-fill bourbon casks. The whiskey then spends about 12 months in ex-Malaga casks, which previously held a Malaga wine made from Muscat of Alexandria grapes for four to five years. The nose brings honey, vanilla and soft mandarin with warm spice. On the palate come mango, pineapple and apricot, with ginger, cinnamon, milk chocolate, vanilla and caramel, then gentle oak and floral notes. The finish is long, with vanilla, apricot and mandarin turning to warm spice.
