Bushmills 1608 is a 400th Anniversary Edition from Old Bushmills in Northern Ireland, released in 2008 to mark the licence the distillery was granted in 1608. It is a blend of malt and grain whiskies, roughly 90 to 95 per cent malt, bottled at 46% ABV.
The whiskey was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, and crystal malt is included in the mix. The nose offers grapes, dark berries and soft sherry richness, with cinnamon, nutmeg, hazelnut and marzipan. The palate begins with honey and dried fruit before a wave of cinnamon, ginger and pepper, and the finish is medium to long, warming and slightly dry.
