Bushmills Rum Cask Reserve is a triple-distilled Irish single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is the fourth edition of the Steamship Collection, first developed for travel retail.
The whisky matures in first-fill casks that previously held Caribbean rum. The edition recalls the SS Bushmills, which sailed in 1890 to carry Bushmills whiskey abroad and took on Caribbean rum at St Vincent for the voyage home.
Sweet pineapple and mango lead the nose, with fudge and gentle spice. The palate is rich and creamy with toffee, tropical fruit and vanilla, and the finish is long and soft with oak and vanilla.
