This is a Cooley Irish single malt aged for 22 years entirely in a single port cask, not merely finished in one. It is bottled at 51.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The cask turned out to be a leaker and lost almost all of its contents over the years, so only 45 bottles were filled. Oxidation is said to have shaped its aroma.
The nose offers ripe dark berries, dried plums and raisins, with dark chocolate and oak spice. The palate is full and velvety, with raspberry, blackcurrant and orange zest, plus nutmeg, cinnamon and a touch of marzipan. The finish is long and sweet, with dark fruit, oak and chocolate.
