Furthur Bourbon is a high rye bourbon at 50.5%, in a 750ml bottle. It blends 3- and 5-year-old whiskeys distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, from a mashbill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley.
The bourbon was aged in new, heavily charred 53-gallon American oak barrels and bottled without chill filtration in Pembroke, Kentucky. The name comes from Ken Kesey's 1939 school bus, Further.
The nose is full, with toasted oak, vanilla and a dry, peppery edge. On the palate, vanilla and caramel give way to baking spice and a faint herbal note. The finish is warm and peppery, with dry oak tannins and rye spice.
