A straight rye whiskey from James E. Pepper, in a 750ml bottle and bottled unfiltered at 50% ABV. The mashbill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
The spirit is distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, then moved to the James E. Pepper distillery in Lexington, Kentucky. There it is cut to proof with water from the property's original limestone well and bottled by hand after three to four years of ageing.
The nose brings spearmint, fresh-cut grass, dried peach and vanilla. On the palate, rye spice meets mint, tropical fruit, chocolate and clove, and the finish is medium-long, dry and peppery.
