Leonor is a Palo Cortado sherry from González Byass in Jerez de la Frontera, aged for an average of 12 years in a solera. It is made from 100% Palomino Fino, using only the free-run juice and first pressing. The wine is fortified to 18%, then matured in American oak butts with a 100-litre headspace left in each cask, and reaches 20% by bottling. This is a 37.5cl half-bottle. The nose offers roasted hazelnuts, bitter orange peel, toffee and oak, with a saline note. The palate is powerful yet refined, with toasted nuts, dried apricot and toffee, then orange bitterness and a briny edge, all in a silky texture. The finish is long and warming, with dried fruit, roasted nuts and a dry, oaky bitterness.
