Lepanto 12 Year Old is a Solera Gran Reserva Brandy de Jerez from González Byass, made in Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia. It is distilled from Palomino Fino grapes and bottled at 40% ABV.
The brandy is aged by the solera system, in which younger spirits are gradually blended with older reserves. The American oak casks were previously used for sherry, typically Fino Tío Pepe and sometimes older Oloroso.
The nose offers caramel and vanilla, then raisins, figs, toasted oak and almonds. The palate is medium-bodied, with raisins, toasted nuts, honeyed dried fruit, spice and a touch of citrus peel. The finish is long and silky, with dried fruit and warming oak.
