Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Highland Park 2005 Cask #2801

This is a single cask Highland Park from Orkney, selected and bottled by independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It was distilled in 2005, matured for 13 years in a single refill sherry hogshead and bottled at cask strength. The whisky is light amber, full-bodied and viscous. The nose brings stewed fruit, festive baking spices, dark honey, orange peel and gentle peat smoke. On the palate come dark chocolate, raisins, ginger, toasted almonds and heather honey, with soft maritime smoke beneath. The finish is long and warm, with charred oak, sherried dried fruit and a little peaty ash.
