High Coast Silent Mills 03 Svanö (50cl, 51%)

Silent Mills 03 – Svanö is the third peated release in High Coast's Silent Mills Collection, which recalls the forestry industry of northern Sweden. It is named after the island of Svanö in the Ångermanälven, where a sawmill was built from 1867 and a pulp mill from 1907. All of the whisky began maturing in bourbon casks, and 18% also spent most of its time in new Swedish oak. Components ranged from 6.42 to 9.04 years old, and 91.1% was peated at 40 to 46 ppm. It was bottled on 13 April 2021 at 51%, non-chill-filtered and uncoloured, in an edition of 6,674 bottles. Pear, ginger and vanilla cream open gently, with sweet peat smoke coming through on the palate and tobacco and liquorice in the finish.
