Silent Mills 04 Box is a six-year-old peated Swedish single malt from High Coast, the fourth and final edition of the Silent Mills series. It matured in bourbon casks and then received a finish in first-fill port casks. Its phenol level is 41 ppm.
It was bottled in October 2021 at 51%, in an outturn of 6,200 bottles, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The name Box recalls the sawmill that once stood on the distillery site.
The nose combines pear, vanilla, seaweed and ginger with campfire smoke and orange peel. On the palate, warming peat carries vanilla, citrus and creamy coconut. The long finish has liquorice and white pepper.
