High Coast Solera 04 (50cl, 52.5%)

High Coast Solera 04 is the fourth release from the distillery's Solera system on the banks of the Ångermanälven in Sweden. It is bottled at 52.5% in a 50cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour, in an outturn of 1,600 bottles. The system has six levels. The upper five hold 200-litre bourbon casks, and the lowest holds 225-litre casks made from Swedish oak. Whisky moves down through the levels and is drawn from the bottom, so part of the older whisky stays in the system. This batch brings together unpeated whiskies from six to just over nine years old. The nose offers oak and nutmeg with vanilla, coconut and ripe pear. Honey, clove, aniseed and toffee meet green apple on the palate, and vanilla and black pepper linger in the finish.
