High West – American Prairie Bourbon (70cl, 46%)

A blended straight bourbon from High West, the Utah distillery founded in 2007. It is bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) in a 70cl bottle. High West has blended as well as distilled throughout its history, and American Prairie is made from straight bourbon whiskeys from different distilleries. The component bourbons are aged between 2 and 13 years, so younger spirits sit alongside older ones. The mashbills include 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley from MGP. The nose is light caramel and sweet vanilla. The palate is rich and earthy, with candy corn, honey nougat and sweet cornbread biscuits. The finish is vanilla with a hint of caramel apple.
